Monster MBA
As an evening MBA student, life is pretty hectic to say the least with work and school. However, when I get a chance to have a great and unique experience in the Phoenix area, I happily seize upon it. This happened this past weekend as I was supplied with free tickets to the monster jam held at Chase Field in Phoenix annually.
These tickets included passes to the pit party, and in a luxury box for the actual event. I took my roommate who is a car enthusiast as well as a full time MBA student, and we both had an incredible time. I have to thank a very special gal who helps run the show every year, and was nice enough to think of me when she had some extra tickets.
I learned a lot of cool facts such as this was the 30th anniversary of the main attraction, Grave Digger, and that the dirt they use has been reused for the last 11 years. It takes 50 trucks to bring it back and forth each year so they have a gigantic supply chain issue due to this. They cannot open the roof until the last minute since this will dry out the dirt, and it was almost as loud as sitting front row of a NASCAR race which surprised me.
I am not sure whether walking around and seeing all the trucks up close during the pit party or the actual monster jam especially the freestyle part was more fun. I would have to say my favorite part was either watching a quad do a back flip off a gigantic jump, or Grave Digger demolishing a motor home, a van, and some cars. It was an incredible event to say the least, and one of the most fun nights I have had here in the Phoenix area. That says a lot as the Phoenix area has so much going on, and never fails to disappoint.
