Culture Shock: Welcome to Confluence 2013

Once a year, the MBA program gets together to show off how much talent (or lack thereof) we all have. Confluence allows us to show a side of our individual cultures; there’s singing, dancing, skits, a fashion show, and a lot more. This year we even jumped in on the Harlem Shake bandwagon, but don’t worry, I won’t ask you to suffer through yet another Harlem Shake video. In all, Confluence is a ton of fun and a hilarious experience. Our host was Andrew Johnson, who’s probably the funniest person in the Full-time MBA program. The unanimous opinions is that he did a much better job than Seth MacFarlane did hosting the Oscars. It’s a small program, so almost everyone participates in some fashion. This year’s big stars were Rusty James, who did an amazing job belting out “The Impossible Dream” from Man of La Mancha and Aseem who dressed up as John Travolta from Saturday Night Fever and took the fashion show. Because Confluence is sponsored by the multicultural club, food from all over the world was served, representing the students' ancestral homes. Everyone had a great time, and while I'm excited about graduating in a couple months, Confluence is one event I will be sorry to miss next year.
