Standing out from the crowd is a goal of every new graduate, but many struggle to achieve this. After earning her undergraduate degree from W. P. Carey in just three years, Madison Koath (BS Finance ’22) decided to continue her ASU journey as a student in the Master of Science in Finance (MS-FIN) program.

“I believed I would be a stronger candidate in the workforce with a master’s degree,” says Koath. Because she finished her bachelor’s degree early, she was also able to use her remaining scholarship to help cover graduate school costs.

But there were many other reasons Koath decided to continue her education at W. P. Carey. The smaller class sizes in the master’s program has allowed Koath to form strong connections with her classmates and work with them “at a deeper level than undergrad.”

Those strong connections aren’t limited to her current classmates, but extend to faculty and W. P. Carey alumni. “The value of the education and opportunities gained at W. P. Carey is unmatched,” Koath says.

Within the MS-FIN program, Koath has selected the track in corporate finance and investments, allowing her to become immersed in the area of expertise she plans to build her career. Her classes, along with other W. P. Carey resources like resume workshops, have helped her build her knowledge and preparedness to begin applying for jobs.

During her time at W. P. Carey, Koath has experienced many of the benefits the school has to offer ASU students who choose to continue their education, and she would like to give encouragement to anyone considering a graduate business degree.

“A graduate degree is not as scary as it seems, and it has brought me so many wonderful experiences and friends.”

It all adds up to much more than a degree. Current ASU undergraduates from all majors are invited to explore graduate degrees through W. P. Carey Forward — a recruitment program and conference for aspiring Double Devils in business. There are plenty of ways to make an impact with an ASU MBA or master's degree in business. We look forward to meeting you!
