What a November!
Hello you all! Did everyone have a great Thanksgiving? I did. The two weeks leading into Thanksgiving were hands down the best example of how we celebrate student diversity at W. P. Carey. The MBA Cultural Association celebrated "India Week." Now, being an Indian myself, I have to say it was a pretty good firsthand look at India.
The end-of-the-week celebration with an Indian dinner and a Bollywood-themed dance party were the hits of the week, not to mention the fun we had teaching sari and turban tying to our non-Indian classmates. I'm eagerly waiting for the next MCA celebration — "East Asia Week"! I hope to keep up with my tradition of winning Chinese artifacts for prizes during the numerous events of that week.
Now, with all this Indianization of my American friends, we still did not forget Thanksgiving. The classes of 2012 and 2013 continued with the traditional unofficial Thanksgiving celebration aka "Friendsgiving". Despite having lived in the U.S. for a while now, I have to admit last year's Friendsgiving was my first Thanksgiving dinner ever. This year was much more fun, with great outdoor weather (gotta love Arizona in winter!), a fire pit in the backyard, and s'mores.
I love how my American friends take such interest in exposing international students to American culture. And this warmth is not limited to my student friends: A big shout out to our marketing professor Andrea Morales. She hosts a Thanksgiving dinner exclusively for international students every year. I unfortunately could not make it to that dinner this year but I hear it was lot of fun.
Overall, it was a great November at school. Can't wait for Christmas!
