WEIRD AI: Understanding what nations include in their artificial intelligence plans

An ASU expert and others build upon previous research by identifying consistent themes across national AI plans.

Overall, we expected more commonality in which countries included certain elements, and the fragmented nature of our results likely reflects a very early stage of AI adoption and countries simply trying to figure out what to do. We believe that, over time, WEIRD [Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, and Democratic] countries will start to converge on what is important and those insights will be reflected in their national plans.
