An audit is much more than an audit opinion. There is a lot that auditors do behind the scenes that the public doesn't see, but that adds value to the overall welfare of the economy. This is particularly important to highlight, given the commoditization of audits, the recent suggestions from legal proceedings that audits don't really matter, and the current decline in students' interest in the accounting profession.
