During the COVID-19 pandemic, consumers travel(ed) a lot less, and also reduced their ‘dine-in’ restaurant expenditures a lot. Hence, credit cards likely added food-delivery rewards to incentivize consumers to still use their credit cards for food consumption other than grocery store purchases.
