Annual Lawrence R. Klein Award celebration moved to early 2024
Award winner and event details will be announced later this year.
The Lawrence R. Klein Award for Blue Chip Forecast Accuracy, one of the best-known and longest-standing achievements in economic forecasting, is presented annually by the ASU W. P. Carey School of Business in association with the nationally recognized Blue Chip Economic Indicators newsletter. The award has historically been announced and celebrated in the fall, following July data released by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. Due to a comprehensive update of the National Economic Accounts, the celebration of the 2023 Klein Award winner will take place in early February in New York City.
The award recognizes consistency and accuracy in economic forecasting, and is selected based on the accuracy of forecasts published in the Blue Chip Economic Indicators newsletter, a Wolters Kluwer publication, compiled and edited by Haver Analytics, Inc.
This change in timing will provide a vantage point to look back at the recent historical performance of the economy and ahead to the 2024 forecast.
"While the timing of this year's Klein award has been adjusted, it remains our honor to celebrate excellence in forecasting and to remember the legacy of Lawrence Klein," says Ohad Kadan, Charles J. Robel Dean and W. P. Carey Distinguished Chair in Business.
