Christopher Tang and Thomas Choi: To combat the fentanyl crisis, the US should further target the supply chain

In addition to education and detox programs, the U.S. should focus on stamping out the fentanyl supply chain to reduce overdoses related to the drug, says an ASU expert.

The illicit fentanyl supply chain can be compared to a virus — a microscopic organism that can mutate and infect many hosts. Just as doctors need vaccines and treatments to combat a virus, the U.S. cannot stop this drug epidemic without international cooperation as well as harsher punishment.
