The Beginning of the End

Last Monday marked the first day of my last semester at W. P. Carey. It’s really too bad that in just a few short months it will be time to move on. But after a tough year and a half of classes, an internship and a long job search, it definitely feels like I’m on the home stretch. The classes I’m taking this semester are still very interesting and challenging, but I now seem to have a little extra time to spend with friends and do some of the things in Phoenix that I haven’t had a chance to. For instance, I’m looking forward to running in next week’s Rock 'n' Roll Marathon, which is something I've always wanted to do and that I never would have had the time for last year. Spring is the best time of year to be in Phoenix and this year I’ll be able to check out a few more spring training games, head down to Tucson, and also possibly attend the “Biggest Party in Golf”  — the Phoenix Open — at the end of January. Considering all the energy I have put in the last year and a half, I think it would be easy for me to relax a little on the school side. After all, I already have job lined up and will be starting soon after graduation. To keep anyone from losing motivation, W. P. Carey has a great curriculum lined up for our final semester. For me, the best part is the capstone supply chain project. This is where roughly 30 companies bid to have their projects worked on by W. P. Carey MBA teams. All the projects look really interesting and it’s the best opportunity I have had to apply some of what I’ve learned here. I’m especially excited about our project with E.&J. Gallo Winery, where we will be working on SKU analysis. I know it will be over before I know it so I’m trying to make a conscious effort to enjoy every moment. I really do wish I had at least one more year here at ASU to explore a little more and spend more time with all the great friends I've made through the MBA program.
