Arizona State publishes economic impact of Sun Devil football in 2024
ASU football fans generated $1 million in taxes for the city of Tempe last year, says a W. P. Carey researcher.
In this story published Aug. 31, 2025, on Arizona Sports:
Geography is a big impact on new dollars that come into a location. When a visiting fan comes to the metro area to see a football game, they tend to spend more than someone who lives in Tempe or Maricopa County. They tend to spend money on hotels, car rentals, restaurants, bars, concessions, and other game day expenditures.
